Possibly the most time consuming part of this new project was the testing and development of the new Type−25’s Turbo and exhaust system. During the course of development we have bought and tested 10 different turbos, many needing there own bespoke ancillaries. Turbos included: larger original Type−25 Hybrids; Garrett GT28; GT30; GT32 and GT35 in many different variations.
Achieving the peak horse power was relatively easy but finding the right balance with throttle response and low down torque was a long−term project. The development car was tested not only on the road but also on Powerstation’s state of the art dyno, UK circuits and dedicated test facilities. We able to measure the engine’s parameter using Ecutek’s advanced software and also with additional sensors including an array of temperature and pressure sensors, 2 exhaust gas temperature sensors and wide−band lambda, allowing detailed analysis under hard driving conditions.
At each step of the way we have had the support from our exhaust manufacturers, Milltek. They have now redesigned the Twinscroll manifold and downpipe to accept our turbo choices.
